Welcome to the official website of the 1 Medical Battalion Pipe Band, or as we are more commonly known, 1 Med. This site has been compiled in order to provide pipe band enthusiasts and the public with a detailed and regularly updated portrait of the achievements and activities of one of the sexiest pipe bands in the world.

The band is based in Durban, South Africa, and consists primarily of civilians and reserve force members of the South African National Defence Force. We are made up of a Grade 2 Band, a Grade 4 Band and a Novice Juvenile Band. All in Durban!
We are also extremely proud to mention our run of three consequtive GRADE 3 SA CHAMPIONS OF CHAMPIONS titles from 2006 - 2008 until our promotion to Grade 2 in 2009!
